Weekday Mini Sessions || Blacksburg VA Photography

HOLY WOW have things been fun and busy. This summer has been cccaaa-razy but super fun so far. Already, we’ve had Nerd camp and team gymnastics camp, sleepovers, lake play, river play, homemade spa days, visits from good friends, and just old fashion fun. Oh, and a sprinkling of work here and there too!!! Which leads me to need to say something… which is wonderful and hard to say. So i’m just going to say it.

My schedule is booked for the remainder of 2011, with the exception of a handful of spaces for weekday mini sessions this fall. Wonderful, right? YESSSSSSSSSSSS! but, i am one of those last minute non-planners, someone who never *thinks* of anything until 10 seconds before. So i weirdly feel bad for any of you all who are *like me* because its only JUNE and all of my planner clients are AWESOME and filled up my calendar! I mean, if i called a photographer and said “hi, i’d like a session for 5 months from now” i’d be proud of myself for planning ahead and NOT expect a “gee, i’m sorry, my calendar is full”. Anyway, you get the idea of what i am saying, lol….

If you want to know more about weekday mini’s — they are about 45 min long, and generate a min of 15 proofs and are good for up to 2 children. Want to see one? Below is the last mini i photographed (click the play button and be warned there is music). And i should tell you, this one was a bit longer than 45 min as we had to wait out a rainstorm in Panera Bread. And, i mean, you gotta take a few photos in Panera, right?!? And Miss L is just a divine little thing. I’ve worked with her family since she was born, and she is honestly divine. That is the best word i can use to describe her…

I’m going to try to be back VERY soon to blog some beautiful families, babies, and a stunning High School senior i’d love to share with you… BUT i’m not sure i’ll get to that before i leave town for 2 weeks on Saturday. So if i don’t make it here again SOON, i’ll be back in a few weeks and have a GREAT holiday!

Rewards || Virginia Portraits

Mr. J is his own little man. Because he should be. He’s one and a half, and he’s got things to do. People to see. Snacks to eat. Naps to take. Lawns to mow. And lucky for me, Mr. J added spending time with me to his schedule! And as a reward for their hard work at his session yesterday, a little peek into his session for his parents!

And holy wow, is he handsome…

First — LBH Photography’s calendar is nearly full for the remainder of the year. I have a couple of spaces on weekends in early fall, and space for weekday minis but that’s about it. Please let me know ASAP if you would like to schedule a session as i suspect it will be completely full very soon!

And finally, you guys know I am a sucker for portraits. Pretty simple, i just love them. I had the opportunity to work with a REALLY lovely family a couple of weeks ago… and the portraits we made together really make me smile. Beautiful & real kiddos make for some pretty fabulous subjects. They were so fun to work with, and reminded me so much of a time long ago with my big brother. He and I used to periodically torture each other but with love in our hearts. Well, i *think* he loved me back then… HA! Anyway, thanks so much to the H family for the evening we spent together – you guys were a joy!

I’ll try to be back soon…. been busy (which translates to blog absent!). Hope you all are doing great!

Double Peek || blacksburg family portraits

Phew! Busy days, huh? Its all been wonderful — i’ve been working on a commercial project over the last couple of weeks, met several brand new babies, and had the joy of working with a few families and we got to shoot OUTSIDE! YAHHOOIIIE for spring!!! And its a couple of those sweet family’s I want to share with you this morning!

First — a sweet one year old whom I’ve had the privilege of working with before! She was *such* a doll as a newborn, and… well, equally as wonderful as a one year old! Miss O was so patient and content and i got SPOILED! Oh, her sweet cheeks and… those eyes…

And it was SUCH a joy meeting the S Family – and their little man was such as little character! The weather was not working for us when we started shooting in the morning (hello never lifting fog) so we split the session up between the morning and afternoon — and it made for such a sweet session. I was able to capture lots of sweet moments with this family — and if you know me — i am ALL about the moments… cause thats what its alllllllll about…

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I have the privilege of shooting the Virginia Tech Relay for Life tonite and then I’m off to Nashville with my girls for a visit with my brother and his family! I think this might be my 45.9th weekend straight traveling. Maybe.

There is magic in the air around a brand new baby. Its a simple fact. Don’t over think it, don’t over analyze it. Just accept it. And drink it in. And i celebrate it every time i get to try to articulate that magic in an image.

I’m always honored to walk into the T Family’s home with my camera. They, and their girls, hold a special place in my heart. And i’m excited to introduce Miss S, one of the most perfect creatures i have ever met…

Oh, and i have to show you an image with her sister (whom my blog followers will definately know!) — and she is one of the other most perfect creatures i have ever met…

Busy week ahead! I have tons and tons of editing on my desk, so know i’ll be back posting more peeks soon!

I’ve had a run of baby boys lately! They are so super sweet and have been sooooo good to me! And Mr. G was certianly no exception….

I have known and worked with this family for many years with their beautiful daughter (Hi Miss B!!), and had the privilege to photograph their brand new edition a couple of weeks ago. Baby G was about 6 weeks old when i met him, and he was just as sweet and wonderful to me as his sister was when i met her at 6 weeks old! Thanks to their parents for making the trek from Richmond to work with me, and thanks to Nana for allowing me to infringe on Sunday lunch! And here is a peek at their sweet family…

And i LOVE this pic of daddy and big sis….

Privilege || Blacksburg Portrait Photography

Lets discuss something. When i was pregnant (at the insanely tall height of 5’4″), I ended up just about as wide as I am tall. Yes, i did have that basket ball thing going on, but trust me, i nearly tipped over MANY a day.

So when i see a beautiful woman who is also GRACEFUL at 30+ weeks pregnant, i sort of, maybe, get a smidge jealous. Well, Me = Jealous of Natalie. She is BEAUTIFUL. And Graceful. And Stylish. And Oh So Talented ( did i mention she is a rocking amazing wedding and portrait photographer in town — Hello Natalie Gibbs Photography!!). So, i maybe felt a *bit* of pressure working with her. But seriously — how could i go wrong when she looks like this….

oh, and hands down one of my favorite image from the day!!! i lurv it…

Can’t wait to introduce you to Natalie’s daughter when she arrives!

Hey — did you see the article from Sunday’s Roanoke Times (in the NRV Current) about… um… ME? me?!? Weird, huh? I’m lucky enough to know and support the non-profit organization NRV Cares, and was even luckier that the Times contacted me to write a story about our relationship. NRV Cares is hosting their Annual Spring Gala and Auction this weekend at Virginia Tech”s Hotel and Conference Center to raise money to support their mission (which is to protecting children from abuse and strengthening families through education, advocacy and community partnerships). There are some AWESOME items up for bids, including a full LBH Photography session and all the digital proofs – YAY — I hope everyone BIDS HIGH and together, we can make a difference for our kiddos in the NRV!

Oh, and last week, i had the opportunity to meet a wonderful little man. Mr. N is so handsome at 10 days new and was *such* a little gentleman! I so enjoyed my time with him. And have a real soft spot for babies with hair and his was the BEST… yum.

Miss A just turned 2 and we had to sneak some portraits in before I return to their home to meet her new little sister. Cannot WAIT to meet that new sweet baby when she arrives! Can you tell i adore them? Well, guess what…. I do.

Two || New River Valley Photography

She makes me smile inside (and i know, i’ve been telling you that for nearly 2 years now). She makes me long for the babies my girls once were. And i feel lucky to watch her grow. And lucky to know her family. And ok, ok, I’m done being sappy now.

And Miss L will be turning 2 this week. Happy Birthday to her!!!!!! I hope you guys have a WONDERFUL birthday celebration!

And this next shot is for Miss L’s mom… its a picture with L and her Aunt T… and if you know or remember this sweet family, you’ll realize that Mom and Auntie look just a *wee* bit like each other!
